Open developers.facebook.com → select your app → in the left sidebar open WhatsApp → API Setup. Keep that tab open — you'll copy values from there into the fields below.

App Secret

Your app → App Settings → Basic
Scroll to "App Secret" → click Show

Copy "Temporary access token"

⚠ Test mode: expires every 24 hours

For permanent access → Business Manager → System Users → Generate Token (whatsapp_business_messaging scope)

Under "From" → copy "Phone number ID"

Register Webhook

Click Edit under Webhook → paste your URL + token

After registering the webhook in Meta:

  • Subscribe to the messages webhook field
  • Local dev needs a public URL — use ngrok: ngrok http 5000
  • Meta will send a GET to verify, then POST incoming messages
